Bug ID: 116226
Summary: Line spacing and margins in version 6 are not correct
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 6.0.2.1 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: libreoffice-***@lists.freedesktop.org
Reporter: ***@gmail.com

Description:
In LO Version: 6.0.2.1 (x64), the line height in the printout doesn't match the
values in "Format> Paragraph> Line Spacing" *). In addition, the margins are
different widths.

In LO Verion 5.4.2.2 Win 6.2, the line height and the width of the page margins
are correct.

In the selection field Line spacing the information in version 6 is made in
"pt", in version 5 in "cm".

* The German version is used. The information is therefore "Format > Absatz >
Zeilenabstand"

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Writer

2. Insert text

3. select all

4. Format> Paragraph> Line spacing = fixed and enter value 0.85 cm

5. Save and print

Actual Results:
The line height is larger, the left edge is narrower than the right edge.

Expected Results:
The line height and the margins of the printout must be as specified. The
selection of the line height should be possible in "cm" and not in "pt".

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
The same procedure with version 5 gives a correct expression.
This is reproducible with the uploaded example file.

Depending on the LO version in which the file is loaded and then proceeded as
described, the error and the result are reproducible.

The field can take cm or other units, BUT it ALWAYS converts them to pt. So in
version 5 it was no more "in cm" than in 6.

There was a regression related to this topic fixed some time ago, bug 98993,
but it was already for 5.4.0. So in 5.3 we can see in your example file that
the fixed line height is 24 pt, while in later ones it is 24,1 pt.

Hans: can this difference be seen in a PDF export in addition to printing?
Is your example file such that we could just print it out in 5.4.2 and 6.0.2
and see the difference immediately?

Set to NEEDINFO.
Change back to UNCONFIRMED after you have provided the information.

The only difference is in the character kerning. Nothing about line spacing and
margins.

When I create a PDF, the right edge is narrower than the left edge - measured
on the screen, also . With the Mac, I do not know the program, if I go to
"print", I'm offered as a PDF secure. Experts know for sure. The different
width of the margins is also generated in the block set, see latest
attachments.

What do you want to say with these PDFs and the comment? You have made PDFs of
justified and unjustified text. I don't understand the point.

I'd only say, that there is a difference between the left and right edge, not
only when printing on paper, but also when I print as requested pdf. I mean,
that the edge must have the same width on the left and right. That's the other
thing I've found.....

Hello Hans Gerstenkorn,
A new major release of LibreOffice is available since this bug was reported.
Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ?
I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to
'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version.

sorry for little bit late answer, now I have been using LO Version
"Version: 6.1.3.2
Build-ID: 86daf60bf00efa86ad547e59e09d6bb77c699acb
CPU-Threads: 8; BS: Mac OS X 10.14.1; UI-Render: Standard;
Gebietsschema: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); Calc: group threaded"

and the little problem persists. Please see attached new document. The left
edge is 19 mm, right edge 22 mm.

I printed some sheet of paper (DIN A4), always with the same result....
